The 5th of December 2006 was a memorable day for 19 staff members of the Airways Hotel. It marked a culmination of 3 years of two extensive training programs sponsored by Airways under the auspices of the TAFE NSW Western Institute of Australia. The presentation ceremony was the successful outcome of commitment shown by the trainees in the two major training programs delivered and also the continuous support given by senior management, especially from the Managing Director of Airways Hotel, Mr. George Constantinou, and the General Manager, Mr. Kevin Yaxley.
The major training programs undertaken were the Commercial Cookery Certificate III course and Hospitality & Management Certificate III and IV course. The Director of the TAFE Faculty of Educational Delivery, Ms. Kate Baxter, flew in from Australia to present the awards. She was accompanied by the Faculty Business Consultant, Mrs. Julie Cross, who has also been the focal point of contact and co-ordination for the two programs.
The ten Airways Hotel supervisors and managers graduated from Hospitality & Management course and 9 apprentice chefs were awarded progressive reports for their Second Year of Commercial Cookery training. There was also the Outstanding Students Award presented to several trainees, who demonstrated excellent participation and academic performance. During her presentation speech, Ms. Kate Baxter said, “I am proud of the achievement of the trainees of Airways Hotel and congratulate each trainee for their accomplishment.
